Our fourth summer of Bluegrass at TileWorks kicks off with Junior Sisk and Smoke Cloud String Band. Pull up a chair or a blanket and enjoy some incredible bluegrass music in the courtyard on a Sunday afternoon. There will be food trucks and craft beer, cider, margaritas, and water available for purchase. All shows are Rain or Shine.
JUNE 29TH SHOW – JUNIOR SISK & RAMBLERS CHOICE + SMOKE CLOUD STRING BAND
Junior Sisk is a Traditional Bluegrass Powerhouse! He has been singing and playing his brand of bluegrass since he was a teenager in Virginia, picking with his Mother and Father on the Blue Ridge. He started out writing songs and playing guitar in The Lonesome River Band and then played with Wyatt Rice and Blueridge until 2006. He formed Ramblers Choice in 1998, but found success in 2011 with the release of the IBMA Album of the Year, 'Heart of a Song' and Song of the Year in 2012, followed by Male Vocalist of the Year in 2013. Junior's hard driving, traditional sound, coupled with beautiful gospel harmonies creates a sound you want to hear. His dedication to his craft is evident in every note he plays and sings. We are very excited to host Junior Sisk and Ramblers Choice on Sunday, June 29th at TileWorks.
Smoke Cloud String Band is a newly-formed band of old friends that have been picking and singing together at festivals and parties for years. They have a sense of tradition and humor in their music which makes it fun to watch and engaging to listen to. You've probably seen these guys playing with other local bluegrass bands you love and we are happy to host their Bucks County debut on Sunday, June 29 at TileWorks in Doylestown, PA.

JULY 27TH SHOW – JOSH DANIELS & FRIENDS + SERENE GREEN + BOB SUTOR & BORDERLINE
Josh Daniels and Friends is the first bluegrass band to ever play at TileWorks! See pic above. They hosted our first show, on the heels of the pandemic, back in July of 2021. We are super excited to have them return! Josh always brings an amazing band of bluegrass pickers to entertain us every year. This year is no exception with Mike Munford on banjo, Mark McClatchen on mandolin, and Warren Blair and Jon Glick on twin fiddles. Josh sings with a confidence that makes me want to close my eyes and breathe deep while his band plays with a swing and swagger that is hard to find in bluegrass today, and only comes with years of experience. It will be an incredible afternoon of music
Another Bluegrass at TileWorks favorite, Serene Green have played every year at TileWorks since we started. They are Pennsylvania residents but will play all over the country, bringing their original compositions mostly to fans up and down the East Coast. They earned the Momentum Award at IBMA a few years ago and continue to write and play original bluegrass songs and sing timeless bluegrass covers. As scholars of bluegrass, they continue to search the old recordings to find those lost gems that maybe only got played live a few times and were never recorded. You will enjoy the stories they tell and the music they play.
Bob Sutor and Borderline are a hot picking bluegrass trio from Pennsylvania. Bob has been playing banjo for almost 4 decades and can really rip it up. He plays a hard-driving style reminiscent of Earl Scruggs and J.D Crowe, and loves to bend minds with his string bending solos. He is something to see. He is joined by Terry Sutor on bass and vocals and Bob Harris on guitar. Bob played with Vassar Clements for years before joining Borderline and has won many a guitar flatpicking award. This is the TileWorks debut for Borderline. Come check them out!

SEPTEMBER 28TH SHOW – PHILLIPS, GRIER & FLINNER + LEVEL BEST BLUEGRASS BAND
Todd Phillips, David Grier and Matt Flinner should be household names! They are 3 amazing musicians who put out a debut record back in 1999…an instrumental string band record. They have recently reformed the Trio and we are ecstatic to have them coming to TileWorks! Todd Phillips was an original member of David Grisman's Quintet for years, back when Tony Rice was in that band. He has won Grammys in 1983 with JD Crowe and the New South and in 1997 for 'True Life Blues', a Bill Monroe tribute album. His upright bass playing is the stuff of legend. David Grier is a guitar playing magician! His sense of timing, speed and tone are unparalleled. He won IBMA Guitar Player of the year Awards in 1992, 1993 and 1995. He also plays in Todd's band, Psychograss. Matt Flinner is a songwriter, and a mandolin player. It has been said that "Matt's playing blurs the line between jazz and bluegrass". He is a wonder. When these 3 players get together crazy things happen.
Level Best are a fine bluegrass band. We are happy to have them coming to TileWorks! It has been said that vocals are the most important part of bluegrass, and these guys (and gals) seem to agree with that statement, as 4 of them sing like birds. Their harmonies are as captivating as the notes they play. Formed by Lisa K and her multi-instrumentalist fiddle-playing husband Wally Hughes, this is a band of bluegrass picker and singers, augmented by Ed Lick on banjo, James Field on guitar and Joe Hannabach on bass. You may have seen them around at Festivals, or heard them on the radio.
